Greetings fellow harpers and a happy Australia Day to you!!
I have a non contentious question about Robert Johnson's lyrics. I just got the "Complete Recording" CD and have, of course, been listening a lot ( some would say obsessively)
Now does he sing "to" or "from" "the land of Californay to My Sweet Home Chicago?
Sometimes it seems to be "to" and sometimes "from"-
Any help would be much appreciated.---------

I could be wrong, but I always thought is was "To"

which kind of makes the lyric odd. I presumed that "Land of California" was a way of saying "land of opportunity" and not an actual reference to the State - that would be some seriously bad geography!

Hi tenbus. Good Australia Day to you. I'm listening to the song right now and he's saying " back to the land of California from my sweet home Chicago" the first time then it changes, to my sweet home Chicago. I've been listening to it a few time and I'm pretty sure.
