No. The two teams have only played each other in the post season once 1940's (I was mistaken about the 20's) and was not Divisional Championship game.
This will be the first time in history.

"Largest Rivalry? are you calling suggs a liar?

Ha! Steelers-Ravens! What year were those teams created?

The Chicago and Greenbay Rivalry has been going on since before the 1920's.

Oh Yes, Chicaga BEARS.
I had to live beyond the Cheddar Curtain for years. TERRIBLE ! Hearing taunts of "FARRV....Farrrve." Racist scumbag pillpopper! .
Always had solace with Sweetness, Danimal, Mongo, Fridge, Dennis Gentry, Bonehead... so many others.

I told my nephew ( a HUMONGOUS Bears fan ) that the Bears would trade for Cutler, and that would lead to the Super Bowl.
He didn't believe me until it happened.
Just watch. Jay Cutler will bring this Super Bowl back to Chicago.

Next week: Earl Bennett and Devin Aramoshodu on flies.

@Tmf714.
Ravens- Pittsburg meetings- 32--- since 1996
Chicago-Greenbay meetings- 180-- since 1921

That rivalry is bigger?

Please. I'm fed this stuff on a DAILY basis.

Are you saying that NFL statisticians, Jeff Joniak, Zach Zaidman are wrong? Mike Mulligan, Tom Waddle, Tom Thayer, Lovie smith, jay cutler, Packers staff........

They have stated Exactly what I stated at least 10 times since the game.

THIS WILL BE THE FIRST TIME THE TWO HAVE EVER MET IN AN NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.
The first time meeting in the playoffs was in the 40's. the bears won, but was not an NFC championship game.

Fact.

"neither the Bears or the Packers will beat the Jets."
of course not.
jets wont be playing in dallas.
jets played great football against the pats.
waaaay over their head football.
not many teams can sustain that intensity for 2 weeks.
i mean, what's ryan gonna say about beating the steelers? he's got nothing.

Gotta go with the Bears. Peppers went to the same high school as me. I was PA announcer when he played. He rushed for over 1,000 yards three straight years in HS. He's a game changer. He'll get to Rodgers. By the way...earth to Jets fans....Steelers will win that one EASY.

Are you telling me that 180 games played together can in any way be eclipsed by merely 32?!?!?!?!

     Ha!
It doesn't matter how much the Ravens hate the Steelers....

......in their 15 Years of Existence!!!
.

.

"The rivalry has cooled"!!  Come to Soldier Field or Lambeau Field and tell me that again.
--------------
It isn't even possible that 3 Generations of fans have shared this rivalry.(ravens-steelers).

I and many people involved with the NFL will tell you that there is no possibility that the Steelers and Ravens have more Fans than the Bears and Packers. That's just a stupid statement. There is OVERWHELMING proof. Do your homework.

The Greenbay Packers average Season tickets waiting list is over 30 years!!! If you  put your name on the list right now, you would have to wait over 100 years!!!

yes. over their heads.
had they played this well at any point during the regular season?
(i ask because i think i may have seen part of 1 game.)
when a teams preforms so much better than ever before- i call that over their head.

i see their only saving grace to be that the steelers o-line is pretty much beat up and pieced together. and i aint sure about harrison's shoulder.

the big snowball is pretty good.

@eharp c'mon man.
" and face it, chicago and green bay probably have a smaller fan base than many other teams"

I whole heartily disagree. Chicago being a major dot on the map speaks for itself vs Baltimore or Pittsburgh. Greenbay is a freaking anomaly that should be respected. Every year they are in the top 5 in NFL merchandise sold. Go to any major metropolitan city and you will find a Packer bar full of Packer fans.

Earth to ncpacemaker-high school is not the NFL.
He would still have a long way to go to Emmitt Smith's
18,355 career yards-good luck with that. If he was still rushing, which he is not.

"Go to any major metropolitan city and you will find a Packer bar full of Packer fans."

Let me comment on this(and add some harp content to the thread)-I was playing a show in a bar Saturday night where we were tucked in the front corner near a wall-mounted TV, and I purposely set up the PA speaker so I could watch the TV whenever I'd back away from the vocal mic and play harp. The bar was showing the GB-Atlanta game. It was funny:Here in New Orleans, and every time the Packers advanced or scored, people cheered! BUT, as far as rivalries go, that could have been any team beating the DirtyBirds and we'd have been happy.

If I was a Bears fan, I'd be very nervous. Cutler's due for one of his 3 INT meltdowns and Green Bay can bring pressure. Also, Rogers is playing out of his mind.

show me those stats. i'm very interested in seeing these numbers for many teams.

bears winning the most games?
but cant get it together for championships says something right there.
we gotta remember the pack has 10+ years in existence.
and also the division they have played in. they have had the lions to beat up most of those years and tampa bay, too.

but once again, this doesnt do anything for a rivalry debate.

why would it be stupid to start the count after the superbowl started?
doesnt that give all teams the same time line? and a 45 year history is pretty long in looking at statistics.

Lmao! Everyone seems to forget what happens at EVERY Bears Packers game lately. Packers offense usually only scores 1 point. The kicker will usually nearly match Rodgers' points at 6.
Elite offense! Ha!

It's well known football knowledge that the Chicago Bears are the Winningest team in football history. Do your homework.
_______________
"but once again, this doesnt do anything for a rivalry debate"

the Ravens have been in existence for 15 years!!!!!!

That's my debate. Factual Evidence.

Dont believe everything a guy like Terrel Suggs says. ONLY Believe Football Analysts and Statisticians. People who dedicate their lives to collecting the FACTS.

Saying that IS stupid. Agreeing with that means that you Would agree that we must ONLY keep track of stats past 1996. Because that's when the ravens were created. Give them a chance, right?
.

So, we count ONLY 15 years of football stats!!!!!!!

.
That IS Stupid.
---------------------
How about this, we will ALL lie for you, say the Steelers are the greatest, most winning, most championships, most players in the HOF. Even though there is OVERWHELMING evidence of this NOT being true.

Yeah, we like you THAT much eharp.

easy, miles. no need to get angry. this is a civilized debate so far.
the "show me the stats" is for where YOU posted "Thats simply untrue. Check the statistics."

it always seems to me that if some one throws out an opinion that they want folks to believe as facts, especially to start the conversation, they onus to prove it is on them. it seems to me you are wanting to bring in other "facts" that have little to nothing to do with your theory, such as games and championships won.

so far you havent even identified what "largest" means, let alone bring up ANY game between the 2 that would give the "storied" part of your assumption credibility.

or you can just throw the "stupid" into your next post a few more times.

so sorry if my posts are causing your blood pressure to rise.
i'll stop posting on this thread.

I've done my work checking the facts. I could care less if you "Believe" me. This isn't a close. Though, involvement is Key... and Teling is NOT selling. You'll believe me when your fingers hot the keyboard, and the screen lights up.

I'm a 65 year old newbie here, this is my first post. I aspire to be a 'raw beginner' I live in Jackson, Wyoming via Dallas and Orlando... but I'm from Chicago.

I remember 1963, 1985 and, sadly, 2007. I remember too many days of 3 runs and a dropped pass. I'm not a big football fan anymore but when the Bears... DA BEARS are in the playoffs, My Chicago roots surface.

They may not go all the way, the Jets shouldn't have beaten the Pats, but for a few days, a few weeks... maybe a year, those guys bring joy to my heart and I'll wear my 26 year old sweatshirt with hope and pride.

And what the heck, if they can do it maybe I can figure out 10 holes.

your kidding, right?
did he throw more touchdowns?
throw less interceptions?
run for more yards?

they did have one hell of a run the last 1/2 of the season.

@honkin on bobo

Lmao!
"All that storied franchise stuff is league/network hype to try to build excitement. It's makes no sense to somehow value the game or team higher just because they were around when the Wright Brothers were test flying their kites."

Yeah..... announcers, analysts, statisticians, radio personnel, NFL staff, coaching staff, Video game companies, advertising networks, news stations, newspapers, and players.....
........all have an invested interest in prolonging a Bears-Packers rivalry. LOL!!! Try getting ANYONE to believe that!
------------

"You might as well be a fan because somebody in the team's history was the guy who invented the jockstrap."

Nope, I'm a fan because people involved with MY team Created the NFL.
Created an ability for lower less liked teams to exist.

My team has the stats to back anything up. Better stats than your piddly Steelers.

-Championships................MORE
-Game wins.......................MORE
-Hall of Fame players.......MORE

What more do I need?

To accept ONLY the last 40 or 50 years as the Only fact there is just doesn't make any sense.
It takes a really sad kind of person to only count the portion of the NFL where their team excelled. I'm just glad I'm smart enough to not be included in that category.
-----------
Its pretty much impossible to argue with you people who say things like this.
Mainly because you seem to live in a world where physics is backwards, the sun revolves around the earth, and HARD FACTUAL EVIDENCE does not mean squat if I wasn't living while it took place.
-----------

Oh yeah, about the comment on us having wins because of easy opponents....... It took the Steelers 37 years to get 1 championship!!!!!!!! Against "bad" opponents. Lmao!!!!
