I've been given 2 old harps, a Chromatic Koch, and a Hohner Super Chromonica 270. Both are in superb condition, don't think they've been played very much, and both in C. Don't know either how old they are, but not really bothered about that.

The one I'm interested more in is the Koch. It's 10 holes, Richter tuned just like a standard diatonic, with a slide.
I can get draw bends on 1,2,3,4, and 6. I'm a beginner and haven't got the grasp of overblowing, so don't know if it will do them too. The slide raises the pitch half a tone if my ears are ok. It's quite a handfull too, but somehow it feels ok, if you know what I mean?

Are, or were these Koch harps popular? I've looked on Google and can see that Hohner do a Slide Harp and a Hohner Koch, at least they do here in the UK.

Do any of you guys out there play one of these?

I'm going to hang on to it, but don't think I'll play it much, mainly because I don't want it to get in the way of my learning to play my Promasters.

I've got a Slide Harp, which is similar to the Koch Chromatic. I play it a little, but not too frequently.

A little trivia, Little Walter used the Koch Chromatic with the slide in on "Oh Baby".

I've got a Koch chromatic. It's one of the leakiest harmonicas I have.

BTW Koch was once an independent harmonica manufacturer that Hohner bought out. Hohner did that to pretty much all the competition. Dave Payne is the guy to ask about this, he's done a fair bit of research into all the little companies that once made harmonicas.

Push in the button and you've got a diatonic harp in the key of Db. They are harder to bend and play. The Slide Harp is partially valved. I practice with it.
