Hi Everybody, I've been using Kinder Anti-Feedback for last two year. It's a fantastic piece of equipment...I mean in my case it was. I plugged in as usual last night and all I heard was this harsh noise or a back slap-it's really difficult to describe. I've checked and changed batteries, my amp and valves but it still doesn't work. What I mean- I used to turn middle knob(calibration) on 5 o'clock position and it sounded great but now you can hardly play it...but if I turn the middle knob to 12 o'clock position it's much much bettr. I lose a bit of the sound (which I hated for long then got used to it and now I can't live without lol) but the amp doesn’t feedback. Even if I place the microphone right against the speaker it still doesn't feedback. So it works and it doesn’t???? I'm a little bit confused. My first question is has anybody ever experienced that problem or may know what happened. The other side of my story is that I have quite busy gig schedule coming and have to find a solution. I must admit that I haven't got a big issue with a feedback (I'm using HG30,SM545 and Samson wireless plus couple of effects) but as you know being on the road and playing in different rooms every night might create the feedback problem. Having Kinder Anti-Feedback made me forgetting about this issue at all until now obviously. I'm considering getting another one but as you all know it's not going to happen overnight. John is a lovely guy but when I last ordered I had to wait two months for it. It's not bad considering that I'm based in UK but is far to long for me at the moment cause of gigs coming. I have to find something as a temporary solution. Would anybody be able to tell me something about Lone Wolf Harp Tone + ?? .I heard that this is a good feedback problem solution. I can easily get one within next two days which would be perfect as long as it helps? So my questions are: Has anybody got any idea what happened to my Anti-Feedback pedal?? Is Lone Wolf Tone + good as a temporary solution (or may be better)?? How long does it take these days to receive an order from John Kinder??
Accept my apologies for a long text but I really need some advice here. Thank you in advance. Peter

Did you try re-calibrating? Try it by ear,not by the light. Also, the AFB needs to be first in the chain, closest to the mic. Theres a lot of good info on harp-l-check there as well. Hope you get it worked out!! Tom Fiacco.

Hi Tom, Thanks very much for that info. Why are you suggesting that? Have you ever had that problem before? I will try to do that for sure. Just curious what could cause re-calibration of the box. I've used it for nearly 2 years and never really had to change the set up. Thanks once again. Peter

I have had first hand expeirience, having to slightly recal when I change from a CM mic to a crystal. The unit is very sensitive to equipment changes, the light is merly a guideline-your ear is your best guide.

Tom - for some reason the light on my Kinder AFB has completely died, but the unit still functions sonically correct as far as I can tell. Working without a guide, what is it you tend to specificallly listen for when changing mic/recalibrating? ---------- Myspace

If you callibrate too high, it will add a lot of presence and some sort of distortion - not the best kind.
I think what happens is your signal gets distorted like when you over drive a mic in a bad way. Really, just use your ears. If you like the sound, then leave it. If it gets to be too much, turn it down.
I think the last knob (l to r) does more to change your tone in general, but, IME, if you callibrate too high, you hear a change in tone...I don't like the change, but you might.
With an Ultimate 57 plugged in with a cable, I end up with that knob turned all the way down. With my wireless, it goes to about 2 o'clock.

@ Chinaski-I look for the early breakup in the amp. I run the volume up on the amp with the calibration knob at the two o'clock position-UB and AFB at the same position as well-two o'clock. The amp I currently use the AFB with is an old Danelectro Maestro-as the tubes warm up,I may back off the UB control and bump up the AFB.

The Lonewolf Harp Tone pedal wont kill feedback like a Kinder AFB+ will .If you are use to your AFB+ I think you might be disappointed with the Harp Tone as in regards to helping with feedback
It might help you a little bit with feedback but nothing like the Kinder pedal.
I think the Harp Tone pedal is more for if you have a amp that does not have good harp tone & needs the sound fattening up from what I experienced with it it wont give you more volume & presence before feedback like with the Kinder AFB+ . If you have a amp that needs more bass & tone the Harp Tone is a good pedal . It also helps if you have no bass & treble control on your amp which your HG30 has
I found my LW delay helps a little bit with feedback. It would be best if you could get J Kinder on the phone & send it back to be fixed.
