Hi Everyone,
I would like to share some photos of my new custom wood microphone, that was hand crafted by Greg Heumann.
This is possibly a once in a life time opportunity for me to go down the path of buying a custom built microphone, and at this time far exceeds my playing capability.
I would like to say that Greg is very modest of his craft capabilities, and he is a very talented craftsman.
From the first email when I contacted Greg about the custom Mic, Greg involved me throughout the entire process.
Picking the species of timber, and whether it was a composite or a solid block, the placement of the cable socket to highlight the timber of the Mic in an uncupped position, picking the element and finally the grill cover.
The communication back an forth involved lots of emails and supporting photos of each process. It was almost like visiting Greg's workshop on a daily basis. An wonderful experience.
The Mic is a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Not only does it look good, it just fits so well and comfortable in the hands. It is the natural shape of the cupped hand position, and there is no effort in holding it.
I'm not sure how to describe the sound, but to me it sounds wonderfully smooth, and has great bottom end. Just magic!
If you ever have the opportunity of going down the path of a custom Mic, I would highly recommend Greg.
Enjoy the photos.

Very well done. Fit for framing when not being played through.

What jbone said... and I think Greg's idea of offering initials in the grill cover was a thoughtful touch. When I've fantasized on Greg's website my fantasies always include the initials, lol.

Greg, you're providing a great service.

Greg does beautiful work-from his ultimate series Mics and his volume controls, to his Kalamazoo refurbishing, and of course his masterful wooden bullets. i will get one some day-they're a work of art. Unfortunately they're not on my proirty list, since I'm 'po' right now and have several mics already-but I WILL get one. It means a lot to me to have some special, hand-crafted items made for me to hand down to my kids when I go to that big jam in the sky one day, and his mikes fit that bill nicely.
