I just got an low-impedance Electrovoice mic, and I need an impedance matching transformer for it. Can I use any brand of transformer, or should it be an Electrovoice transformer? (The impedance of the mic is 150 ohms.)

If I can use other brands, do you have any recommendations? The ones I've seen advertised that have a short pigtail seem like a good idea, since they won't stick out of the amp as far and so are less likely to get bumped or yanked sideways.

Thanks...

Any brand will do. The pigtail design is very practical for the reasons you describe. i like the ones made by Peavey which are available on the web from Green Fly Music here: http://www.greenflymusicsupply.com/store/Peavey-6-inch-Low-to-High-Z-line-Transformer-Fem-XLR-p263.html

I think Peavey gives a lifetime warranty.
