hello Adam! How are you? I am writting to ask about when you have your two amps set up what is the passive signal splitter and where can i get one from in the uk? Sorry for the spelling im 15! lol
It's just a Y-cable with a male 1/4" jack on one end and two female 1/4" jacks on the other. You plug the male end into your delay pedal (assuming you use some sort of pedal) and you run guitar cables from the female ends into your two amps. If you want to run your mic directly into your amps, you'll need a female socket on the input end instead of a male socket, so you can plug your mic cable into it.
It's cheap: about $7. I don't know why I've said "a passive signal splitter" all these years. It's just a Y-cable.
Nick - Adam's solution is the easiest and cheapest. There is another alternative called an "A/B/Y" box that allows you to run two things into one thing, or one into two ("Y") mode. The advantage is being able to switch to one or the other or both.
I have found this invaluable when I'm trying to listen to 2 things to hear their differences - either mics or amps. Most of these boxes work in either direction - i.e., 2 mics into 1 amp, or 1 mic into 2 amps.
Just an option to consider. A Google search on "A/B/Y Box" produced many useful links, but here's just one of them that shows you what O'm talking about:
I took a box and put three jacks in it and wired them all together - seems to work - but I'm no "Rocket Surgeon"!!! Anything I should have done different or problems I should know about??? ---------- If it ain't got harp - it ain't really blues!!!!

Greg, Adam, or anyone: if you use the A/B/Y box in "Y" mode, is there any loss of signal? I've been interested in the idea of trying this to thicken up my sound, either by using two different amps or by running one through an amp and the other through the p.a. Would be interested in your thoughts.
