Just a note for anybody near me that might not know. SuperHarp himself at the Clayton Center in Clayton, NC Jan. 21st. A once in a lifetime opportunity for me. Now if I can just come up with the ticket money before it sells out ! ---------- Maybe I can't play that good but I'm a lot better than people who can't play at all.

Tickets for the Clayton show are $25. I would guess it would sell out but sadly it may not. It's a fairly small place I think. I've never been there but it's only about 45 or so minutes away. ------------------ ------------------ Maybe I can't play that good but I'm a lot better than people who can't play at all.

@ncpacemaker - Not sure how far you are from Durham, but you ought to check out a guy named Bill Newton. He plays some incredible blues harp. He plays every Friday night somewhere, either at Parker & Otis at Brightleaf Square, Papa Mojo's Roadhouse, the Blue Bayou (in Hillsborough), etc. He plays with the Willie Painter Band and a few others.
Also, Paul Messinger is an incredible harp player, and plays in and around Chapel Hill with a band called Climbing Jacob's Ladder, though I wouldn't classify them as a blues band. It's good stuff though.
These 2 guys are worth checking out.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to have to jump on that. Clayton is not too far from me.
@Todd- Papa Mojo's is a pretty cool place. They've got a fun vibe going on. Haha I perked up seeing someone mention my home town. ---------- Be safe, keep the faith, and don't let em tearrrrrr ya down.

@Todd- I've never met him but I've seen him play a time or two in the Chapel Hill area. I grew up in northern Durham. Just moved back to the area after about 7 years of running around so I'm still getting into the music scene.

@ncpacemaker - I won't be able to make this one, but I'm sure it will be good!
@Dog Face - That's cool man! I'd love to jam with you sometime. Bill Newton will be playing tonight with the Willie Painter Band at the Blue Note Grill in Durham.
Here's a list of gigs for Bill for this weekend. I copied and pasted these from the weekly e-mail he sends out:
- Thursday, Jan 13 -- Our friends Willie Painter (guitar, vocals) and Scott Laird (fiddle) will be performing at the Blue Note Grill in Durham. Music 7-9 pm.
- Friday Jan 14 -- The Duke Street Dogs play at the Blue Note Grill in Durham, music 6-8 pm. Thanks to Andrea and Bill Whittington for rescuing these strays and giving us a place to do our thing! My advice to you is to come on out and check out the reeyubs.
- Friday Jan 14 -- Jon Shain Trio at the Broad Street Cafe, music 9 until. I'll be blowin' harp with my good friend Jon, FJ Ventre will be thoompin the bass and singing, and John Currie will be playing his luminescent dobro.

I think I'll get to go. My 10 year old son wants to go with me. Get paid tomorrow, if there are still any decent seats left we'll be there.

It was great, opening band wasn't bad. Cotton's band was really good. And James was great tonight. Sounded awesome. Played Mojo Workin, Rocket 88, Sweet Home Chicago, & stuff from his new album. Bought his new CD after the show and James signed it and my little boys harp too. He wanted to hear him play it.

Sorry to hear you couldn,t make the show pace, its always a real inspiration for your playing when you see a great harpman like James. Who did James have singing for him? When I saw him years back at Stockton College here in Southern Jersey he had Darrell Nulisch singing, what a great choice and great show as well.Speaking of Darrell, for any of you folks who havn,t heard of him,you might want to check his music out. Great smoothe soulful voice and good harp player as well.I apologize for going a little off course here but figured I,d turn you all onto another great blues singer/harper who doesn,t get mentioned much. He,s been around for quite a while and has played with some great players in the past.(Anson Funderburgh,Ronnie Earl,Johnny Moeller)

NiteCrawler, didn't catch that cat's name. White haired white guy, I was unimpressed for the first couple songs he sang on, weak and rough, and he was having some mic trouble. After the mic was sorted out and he warmed up a little though he did a great job the rest of the show. ---------- It's MUSIC, not just complicated noise.
