Does anyone out there own a wood mic as in the loud bark type, and if so can you please tell me if it is hollow like the bullet style mics or is there just enough cut out for the element? Thanks in advance for any info I can get

I'm sure Greg himself will see this post, but check out Greg Heumann's wood mics if you haven't already-they are gorgeous, and have an ever-growing list of big-name endorsers. He can and will answer your questions.

Hi dada57, I have a Loudbark The element sits on shoulders inside the mic, then a hole feeds the wires through to the XLR connector. Rob

Whether this matters in the first place (acoustic chamber space behind the element) depends on what type of element it is. Most crystals are entirely sealed in the rear and don't require some sealed space to the rear. Most dynamic elements, including SM57's, CM's, CR's, etc - have vents on the rear side of the element and a chamber to the rear must exist for decent bass response. The size of the chamber affects bass response to a small degree - as long as it is roughly "typical mic shape" and closed. ---------- /Greg
