I have been playing OOTB sp20's and Manjis ( I just gap them so not completely OOTB). I am thinking about getting some customs and wonder if it took you a good amount of time to adjust to the difference or a few hours and all was good.
Thanks 528hemi

Depends on who makes the harps, and what you mean by adjust.

Depends on your playing style and how custom are made. If you'll asc customizer to make custom "for you", you will get a harmonica that is best for your style and attack. If you ask customizer to make harp for improving your style it's possible that you'll have to get used to avoid choking reeds by breath. One of my harps, which I practice often are usually settled up tighter than my regular gig harps, so it makes my attack softer. ---------- Excuse my bad English. You don't say if you're an overbender. If you're, it might take a while before you set up right, but even before of setting up your harps, you should work a lot on the tone/in tune way of playing your overbends (I genuinely think that any Manji can overblow right out of the box without any set up) so you can work from them in order to acquire the necessary technique to overbend correctly
The very good example of that is Howard Levy, he played OOTB harmonicas playing them with overbends all that more than 10 years
If you're not an overblower a simple gaping is more than enough, and paying attention to see if the harmonica is leaking
On my end I work between 1 hour to 1 hour and half when i'm customizing my Manjis ---------- Never try to be as good as someone else, succeed to be the best player you can be!
