I've bought a shure515revolution from Ron (Simply Unique Kustoms), and was trying to record some demo stuff for him, but have run into a problem of the pc mic being unable to record loud sounds.

Here's the best I could do, which is very far from what it really sounds like :(((

and that's volume on 2!!!
Any ideas how to record it properly?

Hi Jim,

Can't play the sample but could you expand on how you are trying to record? The volume of what is on "2". An interface like Zoom H2 makes doing things like this a breeze.

Zoom H2 is perfect piece of gear, but it's can be overdriven too (not electronically, but mechanically is you put it to close to amp). I better recommend you to take shure sm57, mic stand and simple audio interface like E-MU 0202

... anyway Zoom H2 is more useful gear. You can make a good demo, putting it around 0.5-1 m from amp.

@jim ...cool vid and nice playing!

I assume your pc has a mic or line in? If so then an easy and inexpensive way to fix your problem is a small mixing board. This way you can run a close mic on the amp or an ambient room mic (or both). Get a nice signal level that does not distort running into your pc.

Below is a link to an older video of mine where I discuss how I make videos... the audio set up I'm suggesting is covered in the beginning.

I was trying to record the amp with the built-in mic, in the same room. Gonna try it a bit differently.
