A friend built me a cabinet that I want to have as an option to my Epi Valve Jr. cabinet (12"). Are there any other things that I should know, or iclude, in the installation? Thanks for the patience on the elementary questions.

Assuming that you'll be playing this around the house, I would suggest a Signature series Weber smooth cone Alnico. They run about $30 ---------- The Blues Photo Gallery

Ditto. It'll be hard to beat that. They also offer a harp dust cap, which muffles a lot of the highs. ----------

Weberare hard to beat. The 8" speakers either the signature or vintage are great. They can point you towards which ones. Ribbed, smooth, doped, etc., they can help. Also post on Harpl, you'll get lots of feedback.

I agree with joe L. I bought a ribbed one and didn't like it. I didn't know there were different styles.

8" Weber sigs are great for harp & would be perfect for that amp. if you want a bit more headroom Weber vintage ribbed might be better. some amps sound better with alnico magnets some are better with ceramic.

I replaced a smooth cone alnico Sig 8 in my tweed Champ clone with a Vintage series 8A125-O with an H dustcap. The Vintage series speaker sounded better. It was louder; the tone was nicer and it killed off a little bit of brightness. It's a killer speaker, but it wasn't inexpensive.

Ditto all that's been said--it really comes down to what you want to spend and what you'll be using the amp for. For the $, I think the Weber Sigs are the best speaker out there--$24 for the ceramic, $35 for the alnico. Lots of harp players prefer the ceramic (my 2X8 uses 1 of each so I don't have a basis for comparison). The Vintage series will give you more volume, maybe better tone, for about 2 1/2 times the cost. Whichever way you go, get the smooth cone and H dust cap.
