I have a stock head unit and I have a speaker cabinet that I made with a 10" alnico driver installed. Actually I do have the 12AT7 in the amp too. It sounds great. I was looking fo a little more volume so I bought the Epiphone 112 ext. cabinet. It indeed is louder but is a lot more prone to feedback. Is this common with larger drivers?

Also, if you're using one of these amps with a attenuator which brand are you using and are you happy with it.?

I don't use an attentuator;I have a Randy Landry modded Epi, and I sometimes play thru HarveyHarp's Epi 12 cabinet. I use a 12ax7-no feedback issues whatsoever, and I run it almost completely wide-open most of the time. Granted, mic and element choice have a bit to do with this. Randy's addition of the 'tone knob', which is essentially a treble control is probably key. If your amp is unmodded, I'd weigh the cost of whatever attenuator and getting his mods done. The amp is vastly improved over stock!

LR, my friend HarveyHarp just got a Zoom Q3HD, and as friends do, I'm willing to help him use it:-). Earlier this year, he and I did a number of vids when I first got my Epi combo, pre-mod, with tube swaps, and thru different mics, and even some side-by-sides with a Kalamazoo. This was thru his still camera's video-and the audio didn't do the test justice. I want to get over there soon, and play my modded combo and with it thru the 12" cab-it's PLENTY loud now, and sounds damn good.

There are a couple vids from a Rivershack gig with me and my band, Eudora and Deep Soul, where I played with my combo's head run thru the cabinet-not mic'ed-and plenty loud. No feedback whatsoever using my EV631B. The evolotuion to a gray plate RCA 6QB5 tube and a JJ 12ax7 was a HUGE improvement over the stock tubes-which had a harsh-sounding distortion-not the rich, buttery distortion we all crave. I can't recommend that swap enough.
