I would like a purple comb for a Golden Melody. This is mostly in tribute to Chris, as I know he had a love of both the GM and purple. Skol Vikings! Well, maybe more so next you. ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Amp for Harp Blog

I posted on another thread that Chris told me he'd build me one last year when the Saints went all the way...He jokingly said he would make me a purple one, thinking that might be a jab, since he was a Vikes fan...it turns out that it's my favorite color. I never held him to it. ----------

If some capable craftsman would generate some Michalek Purple combs, I would very much like to be included.

I know he can make purple (he had a couple on harps at SPAH), but I think it was a rare enough request that he didn't do it much. I ordered some MB combs and he didn't have purple available at the time so I got some SWEET blue and green.
I know he liked the lower keys like G, A, and Low F. Can't readily recall a favorite, but A is sticking in my mind. ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Amp for Harp Blog

I do remember his listing what harps were in his gig bag and I think he had more Bb harps than any other key. That stuck in my mind. Don't know if it was a favorite or just a practicality.

Mike,
I showed this purple gemstone comb to Chris at SPAH and he loved it.

I got it from Chris Reynolds. Maybe he can make you one, or a purple dymondwood if you want one.

I love that, Todd! I'd be interested in one or two if he also makes them for MB, SP20s or Lee Oskars. ----------

Looks like Russian Lavender. Royal Plum is nice-looking as well.

I was just about to order two black jeans combs from Chris.... Anyone got some purple jeans? They would have been terrific!

If anyone here does have purple jeans, please post a video wearing them and singing the Barney theme song before you shred them to make composite combs...I'm sure Chris would want the same. ----------

I have two MB combs he sent me, sitting on my desk as i have yet to obtain the screws need for assembly. I asked for red and blue, he sent me red and purple.

I am going to order the purple one or maybe a black one from him in the next day or two. Either that or brass...can't decide.
I noticed that when it comes to composite combs, Buddha's were about half the cost of anything else I've found online. I am surprised they are running $50 or more for the dymawood ones. :(
But, I need to get back to CR with a final decision, lol. ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Amp for Harp Blog

Mike, I know Chris Reynolds' combs are more expensive, but the workmanship is truly amazing and I have to admit that they are superior to some other custom combs I've seen. His combs are machined perfectly, which would make sense being that he is a machinist by profession. They are worth every penny of the extra money in my opinion.
Randy Sandoval does equally amazing work as well, though I believe his specialty is Corian (and I don't think he offers dymondwood, but he does offer purple heart).

In response to the cost of my combs, it's all about choices really. My goal has always been to offer customers as many options as I possibly can. When it comes to materials like the dymondwood and gemstone or fantasy marble there are just so many options that in order to offer them all I can't possibly stock the material ahead of time. So by giving customers more choices of comb models and colors I often have to order the material for each job if it's different. When you add up the cost of materials and shipping if I only charged $25 for a comb I'd lose money on every order. I could absolutely sell them for $25, but I'd only be offering a couple of colors instead of letting the customer chose whatever color they want.
And thank you for the kind words Todd.
