I have been trying to contact Weber Speakers. I had some questions about one of their speakers. I have tried email through their web site (twice) with no reply in two weeks. I tried calling and it goes to their answer service.

Anyone else have good or bad experience with this vendor?

Any suggestions for a reliable speaker supplier?

They've just finished US thanksgiving. Could be taking some extended time off?
I bought a Weber AlNico 8" Signature replacement speaker a few years ago with great service, shipping and price.

Dealing with the late Ted Weber was wonderful. Since his passing, thankfully, good service prevails. (I think his son took over). I recently blew a speaker and contacted Weber via email,I was given instructions on what to do the next day.

I use only Weber speakers on my harp rigs and have purchased often from Weber. I have also bought nameplates from them. Always great service and fair dealings. They are a small run company and are used by many. So replies are not always instantaneous. As bluemoose said it is Thanksgiving and sometimes patience is in order.

Received my Weber 12A100 with harp cap. This was put into my Fender Blues Jr. I was able to mount it in the original holes. It made a big difference for the better in sound but what I noticed immediately was that the amp was much less prone to feedback. I highly recommend this upgrade for the BJ.

Being from Canada the speaker had to cross the border. There was duty, taxes and brokerage fees that came to about $40. It seems like hit or miss for fees when cross border shopping as I have ordered similar items before and not had to pay.

It would be nice to know about the fees upfront somehow. Any cross border shopping experts on here?

Basically you become the legal importer and are responsible for all fees associated with shipping cross border. Your purchase is subject to the Goods and Services Tax, GST, of five or six percent. The GST is calculated after customs duties have been applied. If the goods are made in the US from a certain percentage of US goods there are no duties thanks to NAFTA. Then you have a brokerage fee which is what the shipping company charges to clear the shipment through customs. This fee depends on the value of the item purchased and GST, PST or QST can get calculated into this if I remeber correctly. You also have to pay the applicable Canadian Provincial Sales Tax PST, or Quebec Sales Tax, QST. I think there are a few other fees as well but can't remeber...

I use to ship mainly to businesses in Canada but when shipping to consumers sometimes they paid fees, sometimes they didn't. There was no real rhyme or reason, so to speak. You can all ways ask a seller to place a lower value on the customs declaration. Some will do this and some will not. And you will get different reactions from sellers. Some might get very mad at you for asking.

Anyway, hope that helps.

Don't use UPS to have stuff shipped to Canada. Use USPS.
Goggle "UPS brokerage scam"

I called Canada Customs today to inquire. They said that when using major couriers, they randomly check parcels (due to volume) with values over $20. If yours is checked then it will be subjected to fees including duty, brokerage fees, taxes etc.

Customs also said that if you use USPS/Canada Post (as bluemoose suggested) then there will be a flat fee of $5 to 8 dollars which is much less than the couriers...slower but cheaper.

now must go play on my new Weber speaker....
