Howard Levy is the greatest harmonica player that the world currently knows of. I recommended seeing him if you can. He's also an incredible pianist and has a really cool tambour box he plays along to.

Just reminded me, I almost had a great recording of him doing Round Midnight about 1985, pre Flecktones (and Zack Pomerleau), and my buddy ruined it in the middle with saying "He's just a f-ing show off".

Littoral, that's funny (the pre-Zack Pomerleau) thing. I LOVE his work, especially his recording of "My One and Only Love." Beautiful! This version he did on a TV show he posted online was even better I thought/think! But, show off? People said that about Trane, Bird, Krupa, Clifford Brown, etc., I'm sure!

thanks for chiming in

I can dig the 'show off' turn off, and also the value of being one.
If that's how Howard Levy wants to do it, he's one of the few who can get away with it, eh?
Who knows, maybe there was a cute chick in the front row with an amazing rack.

....."my buddy ruined it..."

.....A long time ago, my group was opening for a major act and I gave my friend, Billy, a biker club president, an auto-level cassette recorder to record us. He was high and when we started, he thought it was too loud to record so he crumpled the bubble wrap (that had protected the mic) around it. So, when we listened to it back, the first few seconds were fine, the next few were him putting the bubble wrap on and the whole rest was only muffled noise. ;(
