Stumbled across the movie 'Crossroads' on Netflix [ala streaming video] Done in 1986 with Ralph Macchio. (yeah, the Karate Kid guy) OK movie if you are bored.
Movie details on Wikipedia

The film was written by John Fusco and directed by Walter Hill and featured an original score featuring Ry Cooder and Steve Vai. Vai also appears in the film as the devil's guitar player in the climactic guitar duel.

Fusco was a traveling blues musician prior to attending NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where he wrote "Crossroads" as a masterclass assignment under screenwriting legends Waldo Salt and Ring Lardner, Jr. The student screenplay won first place in the national FOCUS Awards (Films of College and University Students) and sold to Columbia Pictures while Fusco was still a student.

I always cringe when I watch this. All the blues stereotypes and racism jumbled up together.

If you want to see a movie that will REALLY make you die inside, go see "Caddilac Records".

Crossroads soundtrack is great. The movie maybe not great but I still love it and watch it. Honeydripper is another good blues movie. Gonna boogie real slow with the blue lights way down low...

since we are twisting the thread a bit.
has anybody seen a movie where the lead is a piano player that never left the cruise liner?
it has some terrific music.
there is a cutting heads contest between the lead and jelly roll morton(?).

any body got a nome for this one? please...?
i think it is a number. 1700, perhaps.

Miles keep cringing. But when there are only 4 Blues movies in the entire universe then you suck every drop of enjoyment out of them.

eharp, I Googled with text from your post and came up with The Legend of 1900. I'm all the more interested finding out Tim Roth and Pruitt Taylor Vince are in it.

I thought Crossroads was OK. I thought they whole kid got super broken hearted blues from a girl he just met who he wasn't dating was very laughable. What's he gonna do when he really meets someone he likes & has his heart broken, lol? The faces Steve Vai makes at the end of the movie are priceless! Also, I really liked the guy that played the devil.

Got Caddilac Records too, great movie,BUT.. I wish they would have used the real music in it instead of the actors doing them.
@ RyanMortos Come on,ever hear of love @ first sight & what, you cant have feelings for someone you just meet? Happens to all of us. And him not having to much real world exp. You can see how that happened. Besides, remember they connected in the movie too (in the loft of the barn) For some, that can be all it takes.& I too liked the part of the devil, aukbar or something like that. Smooth guy ;)
HOLY MOLY ! De Niro playin sax, thats awesome. I've forgotten all about this film. & Im a BIG De Niro & Pacino fan. 1 & 2 respectively..
