Next October I'm getting married to a lovely French girl in France.
I always thought I'd like to have a band play at my wedding and for the last couple of years thought it would have to be a bit bluesy.
A real long shot but does anyone out there know any good French wedding bands for hire in the Brittany St. Malo area?
Far too expensive to hire one in the UK and pay for the travel etc
Not really expecting a reply from this one but worth a try......

congrats !
Although I'm not much into marriage and, being french, I hardly have set a foot in my country for the past 10 years, I feel autorized to give my two cents ;-)
The best practical thing to do is just to give a phone call to the town hall ("la mairie"). There's many music bands in Brittany, even in small places, many of them being of the Brittany-celtic kind (but not necessarily folk). They could be great fun and will definitely make you dance. If you're looking for a pure blues band, that would make your job harder, but you may find the rock-pop celtic variety. The "Mairies" usually know what's going on, and could even help you to find a place for the festivities. And you'll have to go there anyway to say YES.
There's also, in each "Département" an association whose goal is to promote music and dance (whatever the genre) ; they usually keep an up-to-date list of the performing groups. And they are there to share information. There's 3 "Départements" in the Brittany Region. Not knowing where it's going to happen, I give you all 3 websites : for Morbihan (56) département : http://www.addav56.org/index.php for Finistère (29) département : http://www.md29.org/ for Ille-et-Vilaine (35) département : http://www.addm35.org/ They may have their info online, but you could still send a mail or better give a call, I guess they will be more than willing to help.
Hope this help.
