Hello all. I'm moving to Raleigh later this month and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations on live blues places. Maybe open mic jams too? Thanks!

Mel Melton's Papa Mojo's Roadhouse in south Durham... has all that and great chow to boot.

Yes, Papa Mojo's is the best place for blues, also the Blue Bayou in Hillsborough. You can also catch the most awesome harp player in Raleigh-Durham just about every Friday night at Parker And Otis at Brightleaf Square in Durham, Bill Newton. He's a killer harp player and a very close friend of mine. You should hook up with him and I'm sure he can turn you on to some more blues places around town. Bill plays with the Willie Painter Band and they play at Papa Mojo's, The Blue Bayou, etc. - they're a great band. Paul Messinger is also in Chapel Hill and is a great harp player. Have fun!
