I recently had my laptop die on me and was thinking about using the laptop case as a harp case,it holds my bullet mic and a cigar box of harps and my little Honeytone, plus extra pockets and pen holders, but i was wondering why not really make into a nice case so i wouldnt need the cigar box,Any ideas?I was thinking foam rubber maybe? anyone ever use a laptop case for a harp case?

I've got a couple of lap top cases, great for harp cases, I have my regularly used harps in 2x 6 harp Hering cases, everything else just goes wherever.

I tend to find that the more specific you make cases (cut outs, compartments) the more hassle it is when you buy another chromatic/mic/pedal that doesn't fit the existing space.

It's possibly the best idea for a harp case, but it depends how likely you are to get mugged by someone who thinks you've got a laptop!

Hey if it works use it !

I used an old laptop case to hold my homemade pedal board, and the exra pockets are great for cables, and mics.

If your concerned about theft, a cable lock/chain would be adviseable... or maybe using an old diaper bag to haul your harp and gear around would keep the thieves away !

I use one that's about the size or the Fender tweed case. In that case, I fit a Vaultz pencil case which holds 8 diatonic harps and a 12 hole chromatic. I also carry 4 extra harps, plus a JT30, a 545 and an SM57. I carry cables for those mics.

I think I have alaptop bag, I got to from a boot sale, it could be a big breifcase/overnight bag

the main compartment has a small wooden box I built for spare harps, echo pedal and lumpophone mic. On the left there is a '7 box' of playing harps. on the right there is space for a couple of leads, a mains 4 way and 'bits'. There is a large outside compartment which holds minidisc player, phone, pda etc.
there are then lots of pockets for odds and bits and tabs, business card, pens, set lists etc.
the small outside pocket holds the wind up torch
it has a handle and a shoulder strap.
the only downside as noted above is that it could be prey to laptop thieves when in the car or in public places.

cool pics,I have a hard shell case that is practically indestrutible,( i fell backwards in a ditch one night walking home drunk from a jam and it broke my fall, nothing hurt inside or outside the case,But its like carrying a suitcase,My laptop case is smaller,I might just use mine like your doing lumpy,I notice you have a egg-static;-) I have one myself there not bad.Mine dosent have a volume knob,Ive mounted mine in a can thats mounted to a homemade hobo looking ,but cool mic stand with a sock in the can it makes a cool mic for that.and not bad with harp.

I use an old briefcase used by my grandfather for his pastoral work. It's nice. It has a flip-down flap to set harps and other things on.
Works good.
