Is there anything that I need to watch out for with the length of cables that I use?

I will have cables running from my 440sl to a lonewolf delay and then into HG2. Then out the line and either straight into the PA or into a DI box and then into the PA.

Does the length of these cables have any effect on signal or tone?

Technically in an unbalanced Hi-z system yes. You will lose high end frequencies and risk excessive interference noise entering the system. In practice this is only a real problem if the cable runs are over 20 feet or so. Anything after the DI box will be balanced lo-z so you can ignore it in the calculations. Best to minimise the potential problem by using good quality, short patch cables between the LW and the HG and from the line to the DI. If you don't use a DI, then the cable between the HG and the desk/pa counts.

If you pick up the local taxi company, then you need better shielded cables and a shorter run. (but don't believe the pseudo-science that the audiophiles try to scare you with: a £25 guitar cable is fine)

The most critical cable length is from the mic to the first effect. Line to the amp from delay is less prone to losses and can be long (but most folks use short patch cables as they are more convenient). I used to be really anal about it, using a short cable to a pedal at my feed, with a longer run to the amp...but it was just too inconvenient, a good 15ft cable is just fine, 20ft+ with the Klotz La Grange is no problem (sounds better than 90% cables at 10ft long)

Studiospares may have some Klotz La Grange guitar cables left, they seem to have subbed them for AC110 cable which I've never tried - La Grange is as good a cable as you will find and reasonably priced, I'm sure that the AC110 will be of a high standard.

I maKe my own cables and will typically run 10ft from mic to effect, 15ft from effect to amp. Don't use my line out (yet anyway). I use mogami w2524 and amphenol or switchcraft connectors. I've tried all kinds of cable and the mogami sounds just as good as anything else.
