say I wanted to apply filters to a harmonica audio track to cut out the super high end or super low end noise. What Hz would I set the high and low pass filters to? I know for standard audio it's 40 Hz on the high pass and 16500 Hz on the low pass, but it tends to vary from instrument to instrument -- I know for vocals the high pass filter is somewhere around 200ish Hz, so...does anybody have any recommendations for the harmonica?

Thanks

200Hz will be too high for the high pass filter, 80-100Hz is more typical for a recording desk, I would go with 80-ish to 90Hz.

Low pass? I tend to think that you want the highs for detail, fidelity & realism, fundamental harp notes don't go higher than around 3K, but to capture the harp fully I think your recording mic is likely to be the weakest link, anything much over 15-18K might be overkill?

sweet thanks for the response. I suppose I'd stick with what I was using for the low and simply adjust the high to 85 Hz.

Cheers!
