Although I'm not a frequent poster anymore at the Bushman forum, I'm a member for many years and I consider him a friend with a great personality.... well personalities....
He is one of the few people who serves interesting food for thought there and on top of that, approaches his own posts afterwards from different angles... talk about originality...
AND he is always ready to help, give advice or point you in a direction where you can find what you are looking for.... now THAT'S a forum pal....

I don't give opinions about overblowing because I don't know diddles about it... let's not give opinions about people you don't know diddles about....

If you mean 3-in-1 guy, he is VERY knowledgeable, very nice, and intelligent. John Hall has just been very rude to me so I bring business elsewhere.

I have spoken to him many times, and he's such a great guy. He's also very knowledgeable musically.

Adam did the right thing. I've only been playing for a few months, use the forum to learn, but the bickering from those two was causing me to stay away.

Well, since Adam is like the pope around here, they've got a benevolent trinity over at Bushman and Buddha pedals pure enlightenment with one harp, this whole harmonica forum thing seems to have a much deeper spiritual dimension than I would have ever imagined.

Maybe i should fast and mediate before my next gig....

any forum is as good as just a couple of factors. one is
how mature its members are, how focused they are on whatever the common goal is. grade school bluster imo has no place in a grown-ups' forum.

another factor is a moderator who sets reasonable rules and sticks to them. it's a sad truth that SOMEone has to be in charge and be willing to be the objective other party or the sergeant-at-arms.

as i recall adam has posted entreaties to play nice more than once. there is just a certain personality who must test the boundaries more times than not. exuberance is one thing, flaming is another. and saying, well, i don't read so-and-so's posts any more is ok for a bandaid, but to me if a member is continually distracting the forum in general from it's purpose- to BE A FORUM and a positive place where people can freely offer counsel, share experience, and help out the new gals and guys, that member is abusing a privilege. the moderator(s) then must step in, delete posts, and get the message across of what the intent is and where the line is.

i think i posted about this some months ago. having someone close to me of a certain racial background, and having insensitive members on a forum make disparaging remarks, repeatedly and with no regard for my loved one, caused me to leave that joint and never look back. this after i had messaged the main guy several times and finally realized that he had no interest in one person's right to a place there, and was more interested in letting the mob rule.

having never been a moderator to date i have no doubt it can be a pain in the butt sometimes. but if it's YOUR forum, if you built it and have a great idea and vision, you have to step up sometimes and take actions which may not be popular. in this adam is 100% correct.

there are threads in have no interest in and so i don't read them. there have been members i have seen acting out like a 4th grader and so i don't bother with their posts. but the less of those the better to me. even old dogs like me can learn from the folks here. in fact there are several members here who have much less time playing harp who have my respect and even awe. THOSE are the guys i want to visit with, along with the new ones who are struggling to get a good start and may benefit from some of my experiences.

thank you adam for keeping the forum on track.

I say let's bring back NOD and TNFrank.
What the heck I could never understand
most of what NOD was saying and I ignored
most of Tnfrank. How many free harmonicas
did he get.LOL

Maybe it's time to bring back Buddha's Garden.
Nudge Nudge wink wink Chris.

@hvyi Meditate but don't fast before a gig but
don't eat too heavy. A snack after the second
set is nice with a big mug of tea you can
drink during the third set.
