I just have to thank you Adam, for mentioning Doc Watson in a past topic : I didn't know the man, never heard anything from him ; I borrowed "The Essential Doc Watson" and... WOW ! I just love it !
Now I'm gonna try to get any recording from him that I can find, including his recordings with Ashley and Foster. That's a great musical discovery for me, thanks to you sir !
@Gloth--nice post--maybe not so on topic--but I always love to listen to Doc Watson--I've been a fan for a lot of years--have seen him in concert twice--once with Merle Watson on Dobro.
If you like this kind of music and it's new to you, you might want to check out a few other guys--Norman Blake and Tony Rice--to name just two--just those names will lead you to tons of other players in the "Cow Jazz" classification--some great bluegrass players went to the jazz (dark) side--some went in deeper into bluegrass--it's wonderful music to me anyway.
Here's just one cut to check out--Norman isn't really all that famous, I guess, but he's a favorite of mine--he says he started playing this kind of music when he heard Doc play. . .

Thanks Oldwailer, I just ordered two Norman Blake cd's at the mediatheque on your advice ("Blake & Rice" and "Live at Mc Cabe's"), can't wait to hear those.
I don't know a lot of bluegrass, I began interest in it some 1,5 year ago, after hearing and meeting Betse Ellis, from the band "The Wilders".
She's a great fiddler and singer and she got a fine solo album titled "Don't you wanna go ?", worth checking out. (Many different kind of tunes on it, I like it much more than The Wilders, which I find too repetitive).
