I know this video has been posted before, but a lot of new members may not have seen it.
To me, this is cross harp blues improvisation on a high harp(F) at its finest. Jason plays all 10 holes including blow bends, draw bends, overblows, and overdraws.
His passion, tone, phrasing, articulation, and improvisation on this song are as good as it gets.
You can feel the energy, even thru the crappy recording.
PLEASE... if you know of any high harp second position chromatic playing on a diatonic that even comes close to this ..I would love to see it.
I hope you all get a chance to see this blues harp virtuoso live someday. The energy in the room is something I'll never forget.
I believe I may have been the person--or one of the people--who posted this clip last time. So y'all know I'm a fan. The fact of it being an F harp is important. Those overblows are tough!
I will say that I bought my first custom harp after listening to T. J. Klay play a high G harp at one of Gindick's camps. His approach wasn't as high-intensity as Jason's, but he did sustained (and beautiful, and in-tune) 6 overblows on that high G (Joe Spiers harp), and it was magical. I've got nothing on video, but I'll say that I'd put him in the same category of blues mastery. He's the only one who comes to mind.
@ Adam..ScoJo asked me if I knew T.J...said I would enjoy his stuff.....said he lives in Nashville so I'm sure he knows Jason. I will search his vids when I get time. Thanks!
@Tahoe..I had not listened to Lee but did enjoy. I'm a fan of high harp in all positions.
The fluidity of Jason's overbends on this high F harp amazes me.
