I finally heard back from the band that I was hoping to audition for. The guitar player had mentioned how cool it would be to play this tune with the harp intro (I guess they've just skipped that part...the other dude for sure didn't know how to play it).
We'll, I want to try and play it. To be honest, I haven't heard it in forever. If there are any resources out there to help me learn it before Friday, lol, lemme know!
Otherwise, I have over a dozen other songs off their list I could play in my sleep, so no biggie! ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Amp for Harp Blog

I used to play it in a band in the late 90s. On an A harp, I think...Started out with a lone acoustic train chug and hand wahs...then guitar cranks up, and the harp is apmplified, 2nd position. Cool solo in there as well. I remember hearing that it was the guitar players' American Indian grandfather on the harp. Very quick learn for you-go for it! ----------

Ah yes...True, HD61. I just played it all on the same harp, since it was a capella. No one knew but me! ----------

I finally got a listen...I can't roll my tongue! I think I'll be ok, though. It doesn't seem too formal an intro and I happened to be coincidentally working on train stuff this summer.
However, the amped part is way dirtier than I would set up an amp. I think, for this tune anyways, I could use a tube screamer model on my M9. Sounds like a slapback delay pretty high in the mix too, no? ---------- Mike VHT Special 6 Amp for Harp Blog

Definitely. Back when I'd play it, I overdrove my bassman and used a DanEcho set to have that slapback-it worked nicely. i couldn't play the train intro just like that, either-no one ever said a word, or even noticed. It's a rockin' tune! ----------

were going to incorporate that one into our set list too. my ears tell me the intro is warm, seemingly played acoustic, then as the band kicks in, it changes to that gritty chicago sound. ---------- Kyzer's Travels Kyzer's Artwork

I remember playing it at a few shows when we had a rather inebriated crowd whipped into a frenzy, and I'd opt to skip that acoustic into, and rip right into the song, so as not to slow the mood of the room down. ----------
