Gonna be in Garden City NY, this Wednesday - Saturday morning. Would appreciate a recommendation from the forum on cool places to check out the blues scene in the big city.

If you're going to NYC watch out for the Bed Bugs. They've had quite an outbreak there the last few weeks.

I have a show on wednesday at 8 p.m. at Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar on West 72nd. This is separate from the tuesday night show I do with A&S hosting. My band is featuring a new singer this week that is very good. The listing with tunes are on both sites below although the singer has changed. Other than that pick up Time Out NY magazine (or I presume the online version) and look for listings under "blues" if that's your passion. As mentioned Terra Blues has 2 blues shows per night: a lighter- less crowded 7ish acoustic show and a full band- more electric at 10ish each night (more often than not they are not harp-centric although it happens- Jason, Adam on the national plane, and Steve Guyger and Wade (Hazmat Modine) more locally. Google "Terra Blues" and check their calendar (once again-presuming an interest in "blues). I believe there is a Long Island Blues Society you can google too. Finally if you find a jam listed (I'm sorry my show is not) make sure you call the venue to ascertain its existence as these things atomize quickly in the NYC area. My best. d ---------- myspace facebook

Thanks for the feedback, will try to catch bigd on Wednesday, perhaps Terra Blues on Friday. "The Village" sounds cool. Where I ultimately wind up will depend on how easy it is for me to navigate to the location. I'll definitely be way out of my element in NY.
TNFrank, Bed bugs? So how do I avoid them, sleep in the tub? If I do get them, will definitely write a blues ditty about it. Rats on the West Side, bedbugs uptown...

Bring your harps if you go to Terra Blues. Before or after the show walk 2 blocks north to Washington Sq Park. If the weather is nice there will be numerous groups of people jamming out around the fountain. It's usually a good time.

Just figure I'd give you a heads up so you'd know where all those little bite marks came from when you wake up the next morning.LOL. Besides, I think, IIRC, that the Stones already did that lyric, at least it does ring a bell.

@TNFrank, I definitely won't sleep much thinking about those bedbugs, so I may as well stay out late checking out the music scene. And yes, Rolling Stones for sure, from "Shattered".
@earlounge, Sounds like a cool scene. I have my harps with me, will probably stick a few in my pockets just in case.
