I got a little story i want to share ... I came close to going up river once ... I was definatly in the rong part of town .. Got pulled over i was pretty drunk.
I thought for shure i was going up river ...
They had me up against the car spread eagle ... By now there was 3 other squad cars pulled up to help just incase i went wild on them ...So they start to take everything out of my pockets .. I was clean had nothing on me that would send me up river .. Except that I was pretty drunk ... And out comes a A Harp out of my pocket .. And the oficer put it on the hood of the car ... Well he said to his partners about 6 of them ... This dude got a Harmonica in his pocket ...He said to me .. " If you can play that harp any good we will let you go on yur way , even though we know you been drinking and we can get you for a DUI ...I said yur kidding right? .. He looked at all his partners and said can we do this ... They all said you better be good on the harp .... I picked up the harp and started playing it like it would be my last show ever ... Well before long all the Cop's ther were calpping there hands in time with the song and stomping there feet ....I had a Handfull of Cop's yelling and hooting and stomping there foot to my Harp for like 3 minutes ... It was the ticket I needed .. Not a DUI either ... After i was done they wanted to know where i was going to be playing next ....Let me go on my way ...And the rest is history .....My Harp saved my ass that day ....

Deak,
I'm sure you'll get mixed reactions about this post, but I am happy for you. I too have been let off the hook once when I should have gone down for DUI, but not in as entertaining of a manner as you managed.
I've also been given alot of BS for no good reason.
Now stay out of trouble, man!

i was yanked once in columbus during a buckeye.
wrong part of town waaay early as i was going to the gym that was complimentary with the hotel.
i made an illegal turn.
2 cars pin me in. cop asks what's in the pouches.
i tell them they are harps and explain about the convention.
they ask if i can play them. (sort of a stupid question, given the circumstances.)
they ask if i can play them something.
started with o'suzanna, went to hoochie coochie man then finished with some noodling.
no ticket.
as i was leaving the gym, i almost made the illegal turn but swerved to avoid it.
cop lights me up.
he asks, "are you the guy that plays harp?"
i tell him i am.
"enjoy the convention."
NIIIIICE!

@eharp - That's what you get for going to a harmonica convention. They probably should have locked you up. :)

The story makes me laugh because those cops are lame, but it also baffles me, too. That's just fantastic. When was this?!
