I have found a older Boss DD-2 and am wondering if it would be a decent purchase. Is there a difference new vs. old? This one is apparently from 1984.

I know a couple of guys that have DD2s, they are highly regarded. As with any mass produced electronics product, these things get updated from time to time without the customer being made aware, there are a few versions of the DD3 (the DD2s successor), some folk have their preferences, but all are pretty good.

I'd say grab it.

The main differences between the DD2 and the later versions is the length of delay available (much of that extra delay time you'd seldom ever use) and battery life. With all digital pedals, I always recommend getting the AC adapter, but make sure it's the absolutely correct one because it can also introduce unwanted noise, and if memory seerves me correct, the correct Boss AC adapter for digital pedals is the PSA-120. The later ones may also be a tad cleaner sounding.
