Ok, I know I've been out for awhile, work has been crazy and I've not been playing much harp. But, I had the day off, wife went to town. With the house to myself I plug in my epi jr., and 545 mic, and jam to some back tracks when it happened:
The AHA! moment.
This time it was tone. I was playing, and while I adjusted for slobber, I relaxed my whole throat, as well as the floor of my mouth. I just so happened to play through it, and POP! out comes this old school sound out of the amp, and I'm thinking, "Is that me playing or what?"
I've tried to relax before, but never found it to lead to any positive change in tone. Turns out I was relaxing the wrong muscles.
Man I am excited!

Good to hear, Phogi. It's like an epiphany when that moment happens-suddenly you sound exactly the way you actually want to sound. Now, it's time for muscle memory to make that a common occurence. Congrats on your breakthru!
Now, if you haven't done so already, replace those stock Sovtek/EH tubes with better ones, and you'll REALLY love the sounds you're making. ----------
