I had my cyber harpeology (digging on the web for harp related treasure) hat on the other day and found this site which some may find very useful.
It's a site which offers lots of free jam tracks. Blues, Rock, Country, Jazz etc. It's aimed mostly towards guitar players but just as useful to us harmonica players. The tracks are excellent. They have been recorded in high quality and you can download mp3's for your own use.
It's run by Nick Cresswell and I have been in contact with him via email because I was concerned about copyright limitations should I use one to make a YouTube video.
Here is Nicks reply:
Yes, absolutely - you can use any of the jam tracks to play along with and then post on YouTube or your website/other places. As long as you don't post the jam tracks by themselves and you reference that they came from FreeJamTracks.com then go for it. You don't have to mention my name - just the website would be ace. If you do a YouTube video then send me a link to the video so I can check it out man - I love hearing what people do with the tracks.
I'm about to start recording new ones - I'll keep the harp players in mind when I'm recording this time round.
And in his last email to me Nick said,
It would be great if you mentioned about the site on the forum and post a link to it. Word of mouth between musicians is how most people find the site. You can let everyone on the forum know that they are free to use the jam tracks for recording themselves playing solos with and posting on YouTube and so on. It's basically a global communal site for musicians!
Everyone from the forum can absolutely go for it. Use the tracks, spread the music and above all - have fun.
Here's a link http://www.freejamtracks.com
So there you have it. It looks like Nick will be paying special attention to harp players on his next set of tracks.
Enjoy and let other forum members know what you think.
