I played with Paul Sprawl last night. He's an amazing guitarist with his own slant on music. We've known each other via reputation for years but never made music until this show when he called me two hours before the gig and asked if I would join him.

Sorry for the video. I didn't man the camera and I don't know how to rotate it.

This isn't my best playing by far but I had a good time and thought I'd share it with you as I am not an advocate of only show casing your best stuff. This is music in it's raw form.

nope, just typical phoenix. $3 in tips and nobody gives a shit about you otherwise. Though I will say, I got more accolades than I normally do afterward.

In fact one compliment I got...and never had before

"Wow...you should just like that guy that plays with Willie Nelson."

LOL

@stickman - I sat because Paul was sitting. I was standing originally but he asked me to sit with him so he didn't have to strain to look at me.

Did they at least feed you? The fact that you asked makes me think they paid you peanuts... some bull...

I was joking about how the video was sideways. Guess it didn't come across so well.

$150
Buddha does Jesus was a hobo.
Beautiful.
If I may, I lisened (listened) to the tune. In particular it was great to hear you negotiate changes and develop the tune. It wasn't rehearsed and I got the most out of hearing the development.
The crowd in a bar isn't there to listen, especially to music that requires active listening.

the pay was $35 and A soft drink. That means ONE soft drink.

and it was $35 for both of us. There was a misunderstanding when we were quoted the $35. We thought it was each... and we accepted that because it was an extra gig for the day, there was a PA and sound man and it was only for an hour.

They loved us so much they invited us to play again tonight. We said yes but this time it because Paul and I want to play together again. I'm excited for my pint of Pepsi!

It seems your acoustic tone have changed some way last 2-3 years, am I right?
I think such pays is only possible for Russia, not for US.

Not that it's critical for these clips but fyi - MPEG streamclip is a free program that is very handy for rotating video as well as converting video file formats http://www.squared5.com/ There are both mac and windows versions - under the edit pulldown menu there is a rotate video option.

35$, well I have only played for free until now we've got our first paid gig- it's 300€ for the whole band (75€ for each). For me the more exciting thing here is that will be warm-up for Pepe Ahlquist who is one of the most well-known blues artists in Finland, and one of the best harpists too. Later is the evening will be playing together with him too.

@boris - my acoustic tone has changed? How so? I didn't put any working to evolving or devolving it.

It might be differences in the mic or whom I'm playing with.

I didn't hear tone differences.
BTW, found purple haze. Very Nice.
The feedback interpretation was inspiring. Holding the potential violence in check but not sacrificing the emotion. Kudos sir.

It's possible it depends on music. You usually tends to play very even, tight and resonant tone all 3 octaves, this recodings you play low notes more wide like blues players does.

@boris - yes, my tone is influence by the task at hand. If it's bluesy then I try to play that way. To me, that's part of being a good musician as well as a show of dynamics.

good point Buhhda,I had heard you mention in your interview on David Barrets site, that when a student comes for teaching you provide them in training to specific areas of music they were interested in be it jazz or blues or whatever,And i havent heard alot of your stuff yet,But what ive heard has been jazzy, and i said to myself i bet he can play good blues but i have not really caught any, like i said i need to hear more of your work, but when i listened to the jam s you posted i was like yea he can play blues.
