you mean songs that stay on the same chord ? I love that too, John Lee Hooker, R.L. Burnside and such...

Really cool pseudonym by the way (makes me hungry, I'd like to eat a beef harp right now).

Not necessarily boring, but it can be challenging to keep them from becoming boring. For this reason, I think one chord tunes require more concentration. It's challenging to play them well, IMHO.

Sounds like this could be a challenge for the forum members.

"Doctor My Eyes" by Jackson Browne is essentially a one chord tune.

Alot of the Hill country style blues sits on the one chord for the whole song. "No Love" by Collard Greens and Gravy is a song in that style that I believe stays on the one for the whole song.

My favorite is Catfish Blues. Ike Turner has a good one on his CD "Risin with the Blues" called "Tease Me"

Mellow Down Easy - Butterfield style. That and Hip Shake always go down well with the audience at our gigs, most definitely not boring...

A slight variation of the topic.

A song like Louie-Louie has a 1-4-5 chord progresion, but I would only play notes in the 1 chord blues scale. Where as in a traditional 12 bar blues, I chose notes from all 3 chords.

"La Grange" goes up a half step. From A to A# (Bb) (I believe that;s the key of the song).

But, Mellow Down Easy.

Are you sure it is a 1/2 step Zack. Can't wait to check. GOt my curiosity.

I'm a big ZZ Top fan and a lot of their songs are harmonica friendly...12 bar, 16 bar and others.

Billy Gibbons used to play harp on a few tracks when they first hit it big. Hate to see he stopped.

Stratus.

This is a fairly epic solo... somewhere in the middle when I kick on some of the effects you can hear somebody say "What's that?" LOL
