Well its hard to say why .. but i will drop everything to go to the fest ... i been going every yr since 2-05 and i been there for the first time in 91 ... so im a long timer .... and i get to see all my friends from down south ....

I might go depending on my work schedule, funds and finding a place to dump the kids for two days (one of the drawbacks to home schooling).

@ Ozark Rich; You going to the Roots & Blues Fest in Columbia 10/1 & 2? My wife and I have tix for Saturday and booked a room for that night. Don't see any harp players on the bill this year but I do want to see/hear Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi.

Brandon Bailey and I are playing Scojo's harp show in Jackson, Mississippi on Friday night and we're playing in front of Cathead in Clarksdale on Saturday AM, 10 to noon. I'm playing a big festival at Foxfire Ranch in Waterford, Miss. at 6 PM on Sunday.
I would have loved to have busked the Arkansas fest, but the official proclamation this year was "No amps." So that's that.

@JimInMo: I was at roots blues & bbq last year with the family and had a good time but probably won't make it this year. If there was blues harp this year I could justify it (in my mind anyway).
I promised my kids that we'd go to the "Zombie Conflict" paintball scenario Oct 23-24. That'll probably take up my spare time and resources for October. Even bought myself a marker and will be joining in this year (instead of just the videographer).

Jolene and i will be on cherry street someplace busking. also expect i'll sit in with Big Red and the Soul Benders in front of Blues Bayou at some point at least once. and this is not confirmed but i suspect a party will take hold after last act both friday and saturday nights at Blues Bayou.
