Bob do you still play the harmonica or sit in the recliner and post stuff. (that was a bad retirement joke) just kidding!
I live in Rhode Island. I love to come up some weekend and throw some licks back and forth and listen to a few stories if you would like to share a few!

@chromaticblues --- RI man!!! I don't know if you heard it but I found out on Facebook that an old harp player friend of mine from down your way, Bob Sioit just passed away the other day.

Back in the 70's, RI actually had a better blues scene than Boston did.

@wheel -- Well, you've got LW being backed by Hound Dog Taylor here, and LW can back him pretty well, but the same couldn't be said of Hound Dog because Hound Dog's main thing was slide with guitar usually tuned to open D and a lot of the stuff LW played required the kind of chording that HDT just couldn't play at all.

Since the video was shot in Europe in the mid to late 60's, back then all the sound guys forbid any harp player to both take the mic off the stand or tight cup the mike and they also didn't like harp players going thru an amp back then.

No bob I didn't know him. Do you know what town he lived in? I moved here in 2003. I'm not very connected in the music scene here. Not that there is much of one! I have been trying to get something going sence I moved here, but the level of musicianship is RI is not what it once was!

Last I saw Bob, he was living around the Pawtucket area. There are some pretty good musicians that are still living in the RI area, two of them that I know off hand are Sugar Ray Norcia and Duke Robillard.

OK I wasn't going to say it, but I was going to say was not many people under 60. My wife and I see them both quit often. Unfortunety most of the people of that group (that were part of that 70's scene you were talking about) are just mere shadows of themselves. Duke can still play very well. As far sugar Ray goes I'm not impressed. I'm not saying he isn't still good, but he's not the player he use to be. I don't know just boring I guess. But if I could find a guitar player that is as good as he is now. I'd be happy. I love Blues, but I like to make it exciting!
