Has anyone hear tried the Blackheart Engineering BH1H Killer Ant amplifier for harmonica? There are times when I like to use very low wattage amps but I know of no one yet that has blown harp thru it.

PS=Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Thank you so very much for the reply, NO stores around here carry them and did not want to get one without trying. I still love my little "Pignose" 7-100 amps tho.

I still like my Vox DA-5 at the 1/2 W setting for indoor practice. It sounds especially nice on the clean setting with my vintage Turner Challenger mic with Shure 99A86 element, but I've been able to get nice sounds with a variety of mics, using the various amp models and effects.

A while back I was looking around for a low wattage tube amp, but the boutique ones were too pricey. Too bad about the Killer Ant. Maybe it can be modded for better harp tone.

See blog below...this amp SMOKES and works great stock for harp. You can use it at home in 3w mode with or without the pullboost and get all the dirt and bottom end a 6w amp can give ya.

You can score this PTP tube amp for $189-199 online. Skip Amazon and go to richsmusicexchange.com.

Could be the crystal mic was what made the Killer Ant sound shrill, that is why I do not use crystal mics.

Perhaps I'm getting OT here, but there are some new low wattage amps out there since I bought mine. Here is a newish tube amp from Vox: http://guitargear.org/2009/10/26/gear-review-vox-ac4tv/ that has a power switch 1/4W, 1W, 4W. Looks interesting.
