....it's not personal.
Back in June, I believe, I switched the forum membership process from "manually approved" to "manually entered." This meant that anybody who wanted to be a member had to find my email on the website and email me with a certain set of info. That has worked, but it's cumbersome.
Before that, we had "manually approved." This was almost as cumbersome. In fact, it meant that I had to sift through the huge quantity of spambot-generated "applications," AND MANUALLY DELETE EACH ONE, in order to get to the few legit (i.e., human) applications. I started to simply ignore the spambot applications and just find the human ones. But I missed a few human ones, and eventually I just gave up and went to the new system.
My webhost, Macwebsite builder, recently made mass deletions of spambot applications possible. This enabled me to check ONE box and his ONE button and delete the 4,300 applications, 99% of them spambots, that had been sitting in limbo since June.
So I did that.
Some of you who applied that way and later manually applied have recently received emails saying "Your membership application has been rejected."
It's nothing personal. If you've been manually approved, you should be OK. If for some reason that bulk process deleted you, please reapply.
The new application approval format is dandy. It makes everything much less time consuming.
