I just had an email from a UK fan, the relevant portion of which reads as follows:
"Here in the UK there is a TV program called Come Dine With Me, which my wife watches. To my surprise during the program, the atmospheric background music turned out to be what sounded to me Thunky Fing and it sounds like it's being played on the Sax (I missed the credits, so don't know who was playing). Did you know your music is on mainstream UK TV? I don't know if you get royalties, but if you need more info, just let me know."
I'd like to know more! Does anybody here watch that show, and have you heard what this person describes: a sax rendering a version of the "Thunky Fing" melody? I've got one-third writer's share on TF, and it's published by BMI. One stray appearance of the melody on a TV show isn't worth much, but if it's part of the regular soundtrack, and especially if the series ever ends up in residuals, it could be worth something. I'll be intrigued if it turns out a sax player has covered my song. (And the melody to TF most definitely is my creation, and mine alone. I was forced by Sterling to give away some of my writer's share.)
I'll be grateful for any info. Here's a link to the show:

6 months ago I was addicted to the show (omnibus editions). I'll try to catch it again and see what I can hear. ---------- Andrew, gentleman of leisure, noodler extraordinaire.

Here is the place where it can be streamed: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/come-dine-with-me-all-in-one/4od#3118625
I would like to help but (1) I don't have the time this week (2) I would honestly rather drink hot dog juice than watch a minute of this tv show.

The show is really very amusing Elwood.
But, I'm sorry - I'm not going to stream it, as I've got half a dozen movies on this PC I haven't watched yet, and I don't have an unlimited quota anyway. Be aware that all these things like 4OD or Sky-on-line install p2p software such as bonjour and safari without your knowing it - your pc then becomes one of the servers that other downloaders use - the stuff doesn't come from a main server - the bandwidth wouldn't be big enough. There are varying levels of cunning too - Sky, I think, doesn't uninstall its p2p software when you uninstall Sky, for example - it leaves it there running in case it can use it. Whenever I update iTunes, I uninstall bonjour afterwards. iTunes complains, but still works anyway. I only install bonjour when I actually want to download something.
But last night I watched two episodes of Hells' Kitchen USA, that was hilarious! ---------- Andrew, gentleman of leisure, noodler extraordinaire.

Isn't the melody for Thunky Fing essentially Sanford and Son anyway?
Why did Sterling force you to give up some of the writer's share? I recall you saying he helped you in some way during your youtube lesson on the song, what was his role in its creation? Its one of my favorite harp instrumentals ---------- WORLD CLASS HARMONICA PLAYER

@bdr - The tune used there is Grant Green's 'Sookie Sookie'.
