Killer. Turth be told, since the day I picked up the harp, Ronnie's sound has been one of my favorites.

Ronnie doesn't do any OB's or crazy fast stuff. It's all tasteful stuff using the hands to wah and shape the tone a lot. Really nice guy in person too.

Such clarity to these super videos. Especially the first with the upright for me. Real quintessential verve. I'm especially turned on by blues guys that galvanize the tonal and phrasing of blues with their own signature edge like Ronnie and Dennis Gruenling. And young wizards like Jay are exactly that: wizards- with their fresh neurologies and enthusiasms and practice earned nimbleness! d

i also really like Ronnie's sound. It is very clean, and should give many of us something to shoot for.

Jay's sense of timing and note choice keeps getting better. The difference in playing experience between the two seems to be in tone, mostly.

I had never heard Ronnie before live. He really does have wonderful tone, and he accentuates it with very powerful hand effects. He has a great singing voice too.

What I liked about hearing Jay this year compared to last, is that he has clearly begun to find his own "voice" - I'm no longer hearing nothing but regurgitated Jason Ricci. Jay has his new CD out - I've listened to it and it is very good - full pro line-up of musicians behind him and pro production is audibly superior to the average 1st album by a wide margin.
