One of his greatest performances, I have seen this all. Notice Bloomfield clapping at the end.

Bob Dylan may have started my interest in the harmonica but it was Paul Butterfield in The Last Waltz that first got me into Blues Harp.

What a champ. He really inspired me to take interest in Blues music.

I've watched this video so many times it's ridiculous.

So awesome.

The first time I saw Butterfield was in 1971, at the now defunct Sunset Series at The Common, which was a summer concert series that was held at the Boston Commons. Paul still had the big band version of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, just before he started Better Days and he was the opening act for BB King.

The 1st time I saw Butter was in Burlington Vt. in 1965 when I was 15. He had Bloomfield, Bishop, Lay, Arnold, & Naftalin. That night was my inspiration. East West, The Work Song, Born in Chicago, Mogo, Sceamin. How could anyone reach those soulfull depths on a ten hole harmonica?
