Picked up a box of various older tubes. Some I can use, ( 6V6GT's and variants, 5Y3GT's... ) others not usuable for me.
Question though.... included were two blackplate 12BH7A's from the '50s that look NOS. In searching tube catalogues, I see that these can be pricey. They are similar to a 12AU7, but with some different characteristics. I do read that there are some that use these as a phase inverter.
Has anyone tried this? Is it better than other variants suggested that do work well ?

Another strange one is a pristine 5V6GT GE. I've heard of using lo-power 6K6GT's for 6V6GT's, but can this be subbed....or does it have drawbacks ? Can't find out much about it.

Thanks in advance. My tube guru's on vacation.

5v6gt Its about the same as a 6v6 but it has a 5 volt filament, as far as I can understand they were used in ac dc radios that had the filaments in series.
