I have a cd put out by Rhino Records called "The Very Best of John Lee Hooker".
I am obsessed with the harp playing on "Burning Hell"!
Does anyone know who this is?

A quasi-educated guess - Al Wilson from Canned Heat?

Yes, it's Al Wilson--I've got the two-disc 1990s box from Rhino. There's a lot to be said for synching vibrato with the groove like AW does on that song--

I was trying to find that version on the net and couldn't.
I love everything about the playing on that! The vibrato, the harsh penetrating tone, the phrasing, the contextuality (is that a word?)...
It has spoiled it for me and all other versions pale in comparison.

Barnes and Noble has credits included on their web site. There are several tabs with info on the album including overview, all tracks, etc. including a tab for "Details and Credits" ... performers hyperlinked also ... see Louis Myers and Jeff Carp on some of the other John Lee Hooker albums ...
