The weekly "Bluesday Tuesday" that our band hosts typically fills up early. This is good, but much of the clientele likes to dance. Consequently, space becomes a premium. I had set up my rig and harps stage left...very near where some happy feet could cause a disaster.
The sax player usually sets up right next to me, so I have to take that into consideration as well.

Behind us is an antique baby grand piano that we used to mic up and play...but now it is just a big piece of furniture taking space. I talked it over with the rest of the band, and decided to put my amp ( or amp speaker ) on top of the enclosed piano, using a foam pad to protect both.
I then mic the cab to the PA.

Last week, I tried this with the Blackheart. First, I had the speaker facing towards myself and the sax man. It was quite obvious that this was too much direct sound to both of us...so I turned the cab sideways and pointed it at a support pillar ( still miced ). NOW , it sounded GOOD ( and OUT of harm's way ).
This week, I tried the same set-up using the Noble/Rocket, and same pleasing results.
Had a quite accomplished gitslinger come in with a Marshall half-stack that was tasteful and not loud until he had to be, and I had no trouble being heard in the mix or on solo's.

[ Only drawback was this incorrigble bad player that started playing the piano ( that was OK, because you could barely hear it ), but he turned quick and knocked over my whole harp case. The guy's a walking disaster area ! ]
