Hi everyone.
I'm Alexander, i'm 18 and from Denmark.
Just a quick question:
Today in my music class, my teacher asked me if I could play the harmonica solo on the song: Sheryl Crow - Real gone.
I wont have any problem playing the solo but I'm wondering what key of harmonica she is playing it in. I got told by my teacher that the song is in E, and i thought "Hey, no problem I'll just get my A harp and play it in 2nd position" But then i heard the song and i'm pretty sure that she is playing an E harp, and what I'm hoping you can tell me is, am I right? Is it in fact an E harp she is playing? If so, is the whole song in A then? Or is she playing it in 1st position? I'm almost 100% sure that she is playing an E harp but I was just wondering if the song is in A then. My teacher could have told me the wrong key though, who knows.
Here's the song:
Live version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gS9gg6rYSTA&feature=related (solo starts at 1:40)

Studio version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzOlo6rH5Mw
(solo starts at 2:00)

Thanks,
Alexander

Dudes,

The song is in B. You can use your A harp in 3rd position (which I think sounds better here). Or your E harp in second position. You would need a B harp in first position (which would sound great wailing at the top end).

I'm pretty sure the real song is played in 2nd pos on an E harp, but I think 3rd or 1st pos would suit you better here if you have some creative freedom).

Thanks guys.
I think i'll just grab my E harp and play it in 2nd position.
My teacher said she was pretty sure it was in A, she probably mixed it up, as it is in B, or she couldnt remember it, as I asked her some time later we had our lesson. Unless she want us to play it in A...
Thanks guys, I appreciate your help.
