I haven't been trying this for long, and I'm not sure which harps respond best, but I was curious if anyone else does it. I just got a good result on a low F, so maybe the low harps are better.

Play a 3 draw bent down two semitones, then relax the left side of your mouth and let in the 2-draw and see if you can play it bent down a semitone whilst still playing the 3 draw bent down two semitones.

Corky Siegel did a neat trick on 'Hush Hush' where he plays a double-stop with a bent 3 hole and unbent 4. As he releases the bend you can hear a decending ghost tone. Works best with a true JI harp and amped up sound.

BTW you don't have to get hold of the whole track if you just want to hear what it sounds like - there's a short clip on Pat Missin's site of just that difference tone trick.

Another way to do it is to drop the 3 draw a whole step tongue blocking, then slide your tongue to the left slightly to partially open the 2 hole draw, so you are like playing half of the 2 draw. If you do it right, the 2 draw will drop a half step.

I don't pretend to be good at this, but it's another way of doing it. Some players are adept at bending one note of a chord. It's not a topic that's seems to have received much attention on the web, though.

Thanks for providing that link MrVLU. You should all check out the Corky Siegel example on the Pat Misssin site. It's awesome, you can hear the "difference tone" REALLY clearly, and as he unbends the notes you can hear the difference tone drop down in pitch. It's a really cool juxtaposition with the regular notes bending up and the difference tone bending down. It makes me want to learn how to do this.
