So i was wondering if I am wanting to play chromatically on the diatonic should i get a Promaster Valved or An Overdrive.

I read the overdrive was for asians with small hands. And was wondering if some of you had tried both these harps or atleast one of them so you could give me some feedback on your opinion on them.

And please dont say maybe I should go play chromatic because I play chromatic already.

I tried the valved Promaster and it's a good way to go. I never tried the Overdrive because I can't see how you could cup it (I play through a cupped mic) and not cover up the wholes in the back. It might work for an accoustic setting, though....

If that is the choice then Promaster without question.

I have both, the Overdrive was a big help when I was learning to overblow consistently, but as a chromatic instrument it is incredibly fiddly. If it's one or the other I'd go for the Promaster, but don't forget the other options.

I'm sad to hear that people with small hands who are not asian are left out of the Overdrive situation altogether!!! This is an outrage!

not neccasserily asians with small hand. what I really meant was its because usually Asians have small hands. I think basically its more suited towards people with small hands. not just asians.

sorry for my miss wording.

@ MrVerylongusername

What would the other options be in that case besides chromatic harmonica?

There'ssome reviews of those harps + e.g. XB-40 which would be an option for you too I think.

I would not suggest the Overdrive to anyone. My natural lip position covered a portion of the holes on top. When I cover with my finger it pinches my lip. I will be surprised if this harp stays in production. Would love to see someone playing it the way it was meant to be played.

Mr Very gave a good answer. Ever tried overbends?

Cool! then you are already playing chromatically. You don't need a valved harp or a gimicky harp like the overdrive.

I am going to get a new harp soon even though I overblow on My D bluesharp and My C special twenty what would you recommend as a good overblowing harp?
