Thank you, htownfess, I had a blast and would certainly do it again! I was very impressed with your playing.
I hope this does become an annual thing. If this was any indication of the Houston Blues scene, I have to say I am very impressed.
To whoever is interested, Houston seems to have an awesome scene in the Heights. The Houston Blues Society, Sonny Boy Terry, and htownfess be keepin' it alive and real! Put it on your itinerary! ---------- Shane
Another thing htownfess, please keep us posted (I forgot when) y'all are going to break the world record for largest harp ensemble, there's bound to be some harp wierdos (self included) who would like to be part of that, and we'll need everyone we can get! ---------- Shane
Thanks H-Town Fess and those who made the trip. I am very grateful for everyone's support. I apologize because I think it would work better to have a jam ealier for those who participated in the clinic. We got a little bit behind on schedule so I know we lost a few who'da like to have played. Next year I will tweak that. I made some cool new friends including Rob Roy Parnell and Adam Gussow. A lot of work but it sure was rewarding. And Houston is America's lost city of the blues. We have always had great talent and a great city. Hopefully the texas Harp fest will grow and help get the word out.
Oohwee..Oohwee baby! This event was the finest harp thang EVER. Sonny Boy Terry, Adam Gussow, Dave Nevling, Larry Bernal, HTown Fess and Rob Roy Parnell kicked butt and took names while blowing everyone away with their musicality. Fine, fine day.
Thanks, Joe--I was in the company of many such at the festival & I'm looking forward to next year. Gotta mention that JTThirty certainly woke up the folks who hadn't heard him play for a while--all that work on adding TB embouchure has paid off seismically.
Well, you know what. It's thanks to you htownfess that I got mixed up with TBing in the first place. AND everythang you said about the embousure was tee-totally correct. I was all lean and no fat prior to that.
Gotta give credit to Lone Wolf Blues Pedals for the octave and delay he fixed me up with after attending Hill Country Harmonica and meeting him there. It's giving my beat up ol'amp new life. JTThirty was probably thinking he hit the gas on a 67 Corvette at first. it was really great sharing all this with you guys.
Shanester, I am one of the coordinators with Gary Allegretto and not sure who else for the 10,000 harmonica deal at Minute Maid. We are pretty much doing a version of Mannish Boy taking out one chord and doing a call and response between that riff. There is going to be an adjuticator from the Guinness Book of World Records there and the rules are it has to sound like an ensemble and not just 10,000 harmonicas going at once. This should be interesting.
Shanester, Not etched in stone but I believe we are going to do da da da dunt"" and not da da da da dunt taking out one chord so the masses will follow. it's gotta be really simple and in unison to pull this off.
