As I continue to strive to milk all I can from my super-cheap Epi Valve Jr, having already had Randy Landry do his mods on it, I realized the stock Ruskie tubes were pretty much crap. I researched replacement EL-84 and 12ax7 tubes, and read some pretty good comparisons on the EuroTubes site. So Monday afternoon I ordered a matched pair of EL-84s(gotta have a spare)and a 12ax7-both JJ tubes. Today is Wednesday-they arrived THIS MORNING, well-packed! Andoh, wat a difference they made. His review of the stock Sovtek and EH tubes was spot-on-they pretty much sound like cardboard, with a harsh breakup, and not really a 'warm' sound. The JJs are smooth as butter, and the warmth is there. This will suffice until I can buy my next mid-size amp(Mission? HG? Meteor? Sonny Jr? Other?). The next time I need tubes, I won't hesistate to go back to EuroTubes.

NOD, I'm not a tweaker, and I don't have any spare time to speak of, but I have seen that....interesting stuff. This little amp is just filling the void for me now as my sole amp until I can get me another monster. Just bouncing back from some serious financial crap that forced me to get rid of my previous big boutique amp(no biggie, as it wasn't a great amp for harp)...My vid clips don't do this thing justice, as it sounds very decent for what it is. I can't imagine paying someone to convert it to a 6v6 or anything other than it is-I'd rather put that money towards an amp already in that configuration.
