Like many in here I can hit the 6 hole over blow fairly easy with a well. With a well set up harp I can hit the 5 then the 4 hole, but are increasingly more difficult in that order. Something I've noticed when I'm practicing scales with the OBs, is that the longer I play the scales, the more difficult it is to hit the OB notes. Is this due to the fatigue in my mouth, or does the reed get too wet? Any ideas.

OBs are very good to train the correct resonance chamber. Try to form the OBs in the back of your mouth.

For me, it is not fatigue, but tension. The more I OB, the tighter my muscles become and I loose the OB. I then stop, try to relax, and have another go.

AKA, the problem of being too physically uptight is something the average player tends to have quite a lot and taking the time to learn how to physically relax so that all of your muscles can work PROPERLY in sync cannot be overstressed and it's obvious on top of that is that you're trying to force the issue, both of which are, to be brutally honest, are bad playing techniques that you need to shed with and unlearn ASAP. You need to learn to play 100% physically relaxed 24/7/365. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
