OB noob first impressions - manji, hammond vs. bleusmaster all out of the box
Been playing bluesmasters for the last 8 or more years. OB's only Porky and Deliverance hill folk would love.
Manji - OB's coming fairly easily - that sound pretty good for a change- I'm shocked to find I may actually be able to use this technique playing MUSIC if I work on it a bit. Top blow bends perhaps a bit easier than on the bluesmasters. Tone a bit light and bright - still prefer the Bluesmaster's tone - though I just may adapt to it.
Hammond -OB's similar in ease and quality as the Manji. Disappointed to find responsiveness not as good as Manji or B-master. Tone darker but I still prefer the b-master's. Look and build quality superior to both. A thing of beauty.

Yeah bonedog I'm a real big fan of the Suzuki BluesMaster too. The only problem is I prefer the SP20 JI tuning for blues.
If only Suzuki made a JI tuned BluesMaster.

tookatooka pull out a file,I retuned a ET star-performer to a HoHner modular tuning the other day,Now i cant put the harp down,Its not that hard but time consuming,It was my 3rd time to tune 1 up the 1st 2 times i had some difficulties but worked them out, this last time went real smooth, but its tedious, and time consuming i need to check the rest of my harps out,but its hard to get motivated to tear into them, but its worth it after its done.

Funny - Huang Star Performers (if thats what your talking about) are what I played for many years before I switched to the bluesmasters . For years the quality control out of the box was superior to Honer - and cheaper, then the control seemed to slip and I switched to Suzuki's.
Wish the bluesmasters would overblow for me - but it ain't gonna happen
I've never been that sensitive to JI vs ET tunings for some reason. Just an insensitive lout I guess. Also gave up on doing my own harp work. I can solder up my own amp from scrastch and a schematic, but I'm a klutz with shims and files on those little reeds.

I cant work on anything eletronic,I can weld with it but other than that it scares the hell out of me.and i dont understand the tec, part of it,I kinda like messing with harps when im done but man its alot of work and theres alot of tricks ill probelly never know, but i like star-performers,they play pretty good after you tweak on em.and there very nice priced.and blast proof if you dont have good breath control like me :-)I would like to try a manji but im afraid i would bust 1 quick,I cant play seydel for that reason ,and hohner hasnt lasted to long for me only star-performer and LO has lasted for me.I hear LO dont OB very good i dont know about star-performer,If i ever get to that point im thinking a C manji they look nice and not that high of price
